Best And Worst Dressed

Week 8.8-8.14

Another week means another style breakdown of the best looks of the week; beware, however, because now I’m going through the worst looks too! It’s not personal…it’s just fashion.

BEST DRESSED

1. LADY GAGA

Mother Monster always delivers couture for your nerves, but she chose for a more demure look this past week at the HFPA Annual Grants Banquet in Beverly Hills. This Vivienne Westwood gown is simple, classic, and elegant, which seems to be more of Gaga’s style as of late. After all, she was the face of Versace for goodness sake – and once Donatella gives you a public endorsement, you better start showing some poise. Lady Gaga continues to keep us on our toes with her fashion, especially when she reminds us of her sophistication.

2. GABRIELLE UNION

I am a firm believer that “black don’t crack”, and at 42 years old, Gabrielle Union is a fine example. This week, her stunning beauty was only heightened by a remarkable Akris gown at the “Straight Outta Compton” premiere in Los Angeles. Her look was a fashion risk that definitely paid off. The mesh sleeves and skirt obviously set the dress apart, but the bodice of the dress also contributed to her fierce silhouette. She paired her look with an Edie Parker clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti heels. You worked that garment out, Mrs. Wade!

3. EMILY RATAJKOWSKI

Not every supermodel automatically has great style, but 24-year old Emily Ratajkowski knows how to bring the drama on a red carpet (in a good way). She attended the “We Are Your Friends” premiere in Lille, France wearing a dazzling Balmain mini-dress with shimmery fringe realness for days! Styled with a thick red belt and gold heels, this look was the epitome of 21st century glamour, darling! Incredible designer Olivier Rousteing has made the long-sleeve mini-dress somewhat of a signature for Balmain, but his attention to detail is what makes his work truly sparkle. Then again, it also doesn’t hurt that he dresses A-list celebrities and supermodels all of the time.

4. JESSICA SZOHR

Any “Gossip Girl” fanatic can recognize this beautiful actress from a mile away. She also likely turned many heads at a fashion party in New York City wearing an Elle Sasson matching printed top and skirt. Her perfectly slim figure was accentuated by an appropriate crop top with a classic A-line skirt. Plus, the orange L.L. Bennett sandals were a great pop of color. By the look of how she’s posing, she knew she looked cute too!

WORST DRESSED

1. NINA DOBREV

This gorgeous young starlet usually grabs my attention with her style in a positive way, but this outfit was just wrong. Her Diane von Furstenberg cutout romper was completely ruined by the multicolored blouse that was styled underneath. She may have exited from her hit show “The Vampire Diaries”, but the real departure needs to be from that blouse.

2. HEIDI KLUM

Heidi Klum has one of the best bodies in the business, but this Fausto Puglisi dress was not the way to show it off. At a taping of her show “America’s Got Talent” in New York City, Klum was a little too flashy in this look; however, maybe it was just those sun-shaped ninja stars carefully placed on her dress.

3. CHRISTINA MILIAN

I’m not sure if Christina Milian plans on reviving her music career, but it might not work out if she dresses like this again. Granted, she was the Go Pool at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, but there is a much more stylish way of giving a poolside look. The metallic color was outdated and the zipper and fringe detail only made the ensemble appear cheap. Better luck next time…

4. EMMY ROSSUM

This talented “Shameless” actress chose the wrong look for her skin tone at the CBS Summer TCA party in West Hollywood. The ruffle detail of this Alessandra Rich dress aged her by 20 years and the basic cream color completely washed her out. Even with Aquazurra sandals and a Christian Louboutin clutch, there was nothing stylish about this outfit.
