The Best 5 Qualities Of What Defines A Gentleman

The true prerequisite for a gentleman is being a man who is comfortable with himself and knows how to respect himself and others. Here Are The Best 5 Qualities Of What Defines A Gentleman:

Must Be Confident

This involves not only being confident in yourself but confident in your ideals and beliefs. A man needs to realize that while he may not be right all the time, he must have the humility and confidence in his own self to not impose his views onto others. He must surround himself with a broad spectrum of views and be confident that knowledge is power. There is nothing more attractive than a man who is well-rounded, well-versed and all around confident.

Must Have Integrity

The gentleman is just as honest, direct, and kind around people as he is behind closed doors. He does not put on a façade when he is around people he is trying to impress. He does not need to try to impress those around him and instead strives to show his peers his honest side, which always tends to shine through.

Respects Himself

As Shakespeare once said, “This above all, to thine own self be true.” How can others respect you if you don’t even respect yourself? A gentleman knows to how to bear the demands life places on him with grace and style and a certain poise that is missed by lesser men. He must respect himself and others; that involves not talking down to those he considers beneath him, mostly because he never considers others to be beneath him. The true character of a man is shown through his ability to tackle his problems without compromising his morals and values.

Shows He Cares

We don’t mean by sending your lady flowers on any given Sunday, show you care through the little actions that don’t go overlooked.  A gentleman will always drop what he is doing if someone is in need, whether it is a wife, family member, or friend, the gentleman will be there the minute he is called. He will sacrifice his time to help those in need and no matter where you are, if you are in trouble or need a friend, he will always be there.

Must Be Brave

Being brave comes in many shapes and sizes, being brave doesn’t necessarily mean standing up in a fight. Sometimes it means standing down, knowing when to walk away and knowing when to let an argument go. Knowing when to pick your battles is the biggest form of being brave, it means giving up your pride and realizing that some things aren’t worth fighting for. On the other hand, being brave also entitles the gentleman to stand up for what he believes in and he won’t hold back from doing what is right.

Being a gentleman encompasses all the qualities a typical good man should possess. This temperament allows him to find joy in the little things, defend the ones he cares about, find integrity in all the right places, and represents his ability to care for others. To attribute these qualities to oneself is to find the perfect balance of chivalry and one’s manhood.
