ManCave (def):Where “guys can do as they please” without fear of upsetting any female sensibility about house decor or design

How To Get One

(Purpose): a place to be alone, to be away from women and from female sensibilities, to indulge in hobbies, and to hang out with male friends. According to psychiatrist and author Scott Haltzman, it is important for a man to have a place to call his own, referring to a male area to which to retreat. Possible characteristics of a mancave include:

– A kitchen sink that’s always full.
– A refrigerator that contains nothing but beer, soda, bacon, and possibly batteries.
– Walls are covered in posters of bands, movie classics, or legendary men
– A TV, where all furniture is aiming at it.
– A dining table, unrelated to eating.
– Frequent blasting of music and/or video game playing

If you don’t have one yet, here is how to get one, and it doesn’t have to involve a secret hidden book-shelf door. Remember those great items from your college years – the VCR that doubled as a coffee table, the study desk that easily transformed into a beer pong table, a card table and even a dance stage for those big parties. Maturing doesn’t mean giving up the versatility that made those nights so memorable. With the help of a state-of-the-art design, a simple table can again be the platform for many great nights.

Turkish interior designer Koralturk has reinvented versatility with the Luxury Gold pool table. Koralturk makes it easy to toss out that dining table. A reflective black glass covers a multi-functional pool table enabling dinner guests to never know what lies beneath on top of the gold leaf table legs. After the formal dinner is over, simply remove the glass to reveal a pool table with an auto balancing system so every shot is levelled to perfection.

If solid gold leaf doesn’t match the existing décor, pull up a chair to James Perse’s convertible table. Designed for office or in-home use, Perse has created a table that is unsuspecting even to the most detail-oriented eye. The limited edition table is made of teak wood imported from the island of Java. The rare wood is protected there by the Indonesian government but Perse’s table is handmade in the United States where his seamless tabletop serves just as well as an ideal space for a client meeting as it does an in-office billiard center piece. The hidden leather pockets and leveling feet only add to the allure of this well-disguised party.

For a less mysterious option, the Italian-made Teckell glass foosball tables will maintain any upscale interior by exuding modernity. With transparent or lightly green-tinted glass, the Teckell Krystall foosball table is like nothing your guests have ever seen. Add a wood, glossy black or a pure white finish to the table legs for just the right accent. Leave the legs clear glass for a unique approach to gaming. Brushed aluminum and chrome game pieces are protected in clear view once the match is over. Cover the table with an equally transparent glass tabletop to enjoy drinks right on the playing field.

When it’s late in the evening and removing the tabletop is too much, the Lee J. Rowland convertible table is willing to do all the work. With the neon accent lights off, the curved table is nothing more than an extravagant dinner table for a large family meal. But a single button controls the inner motor which rotates the tabletop and turns the ultra-slim table into a Las Vegas style poker table. A ceramic-like enamel protects the edges of the table from chip tosses and wine class stains, enabling it to return to its more tranquil state after even the most intense poker nights. No matter how big or small your decorating space is, there is always room to add a statement piece of gaming furniture. Doing so can take a standard room from regrettable to unforgettable. Who cares if you wanna leave your beer and burger around for a day or 2? You call the shots.
