They say “Where there’s a whisk, there’s a way!” and there couldn’t be a more accurate description than this of the power that lies in the hands of a good pâtissier. New York City is one of the top foodie places and dessert is no exception. We’ve curated New York’s newest & best dessert bars to experience now.

The color black has usually a lot of negative connotation to it; but what if you come across a black ice cream? I’m sure all the negativity will go away! Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream debuted a “Coconut Ash” flavor, which gets its inky black hue from coconut ash, a form of activated charcoal from the charred remains of a coconut shell. Alright, so coconut, activated charcoal, and the color black, sounds like an unusual combination, no? But this becomes quite an interesting one when you put it all together. Registered nutritionist Beth Warren (author of Living a Real Life with Real Food) explains “Activated charcoal traps chemicals and toxins and draws them outside the body to prevent re-absorption.” However on the other hand registered dietitian Keri Gans argues that there is no scientific evidence to back up any of the health benefits of activated charcoal.Experts conclude that it is okay to try it once in a while. It turns the mouth gray for a while so make sure to clean up before taking a selfie with a full grinned smile. #LOL

Sugar Factory is known world over for its celebrity endorsed Couture Pops, which have turned sweets into the latest designer accessory. This places offers a wide variety of crepes, pancakes and waffles in a lot of fun flavors like mixed berry, Nutella, apple pie, banana split, blueberry lemon, red velvet (etc.) Even though they serve savory items as well but their ice cream sandwiches, insane milkshakes, premium chocolate fondues, signature drinks in goblets and martinis (which are also available without alcohol) seem to take the lead. Their menu looks so colorful and tempting that I guess it makes you gain a pound or two just by skimming through it.

On a lighter note, these goblets do not only look amazing in real life, but are totally #instagenic as well. So, in addition to delivering a great taste they can get you a couple of likes too!

There’s no harm in screaming for ice cream, especially when it looks SO good! This place puts your creativity at work to please your taste buds. They offer two types of cones including black chocolate and red classic. Then there’s a variety of unusual flavors to choose from including purple yam, macapuno coconut, black sesame and matcha green tea. The three categories of toppings include crunchies, chewies and drizzles all in various flavors. However, for all the lazy bones out there, Soft Swerve also offers their own combinations of ice cream (for those who don’t want a custom made one).

Barbara Johnson said “A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.” The Schmackery’s offers lip-schmackin’ good cookies. This place never fails to satisfy the cookie monster that lives within each of us. They have such a wide variety of soft and gooey cookies that it becomes really difficult to decide which one to eat and which one to let go. Their flavors range from red velvet, chocolate chip, cereal killer, oatmeal scotchie, chocolate explosion, peanut buttercup, butter pecan, sweetcorn, to lemon poppy, and a lot more. They have more than 45 flavors. They also offer cookie shakes. Gluten free options are also available. This place is a personal favorite and highly recommended.

Skipping on the below mentioned timeless dessert bars of New York would almost be sinful. These places are not new yet hold a very special place in every foodie’s heart, and hence deserve a special mention.

Is there a way to combine the main course with the dessert? Maybe a pizza with chocolate? Well, yes, you heard me right! This amazing chocolate bar caters to that need as well by serving their famous “Chocolate Pizza”!

This bar is a heaven for all the chocolate lovers out there! This place entails the concept that chocolate is not only a flavor, instead it’s a whole experience in itself. From their warm hot chocolate, to their chocolate crepes, dark chocolate covered cherry waffles, chocolate tiramisu, chocolate crepe pasta, and to the famous chocolate fondue tower, they’ve got it all. It’s a one stop solution to all your chocolate cravings.

Has your sweet tooth ever pushed you to the extent that you want to have two things at the same time? Like a croissant and a doughnut together? Well, here’s the solution for that.

Dominique Ansel is an award-winning pastry chef, who was named one of Business Insider’s “Most Innovative People Under 40”. The popularity of his bakery can be well imagined by the fact that every morning prior to opening there is a line of approximately 100 people waiting outside. His signature item is the famous “Cronut” which is a hybrid of croissant and doughnut. Other prominent items include “Cookie Shots” and “Frozen S’mores”, however the menu is not limited to these only.

I can safely say that this place offers the best “Frrrozen Hot Chocolate” you can find in NYC. Specially, on a hot summer day when you’re craving for something chilled and sweet, something which can make you forget all your worries and enable you to bear the scorching heat outside, then this is surely the place to go. One of my personal favorite dessert spots in NYC, despite the fact that every time I have to wait in long lines. But, like they say “The longer the wait, the sweeter the fruit”. Hence, that makes all the wait worthwhile. Other amazing things which they offer include, wide variety of ice cream sundaes, cake slices, pies and tarts.

Momofuku Milk Bar: This has been an NYC classic for years. It serves cereal milk ice cream.

Black Tap: They sell outrageous milkshakes which are fully loaded with toppings like M&Ms, cotton candy, rock candy and chocolate chip cookies.

Magnolia Bakery: It has been selling scrumptious cupcakes for a really long time, however their jackpot item is the most popular banana bread pudding.

Even though NYC has countless restaurants offering various cuisines from around the world but like it is said “There is always room for dessert”, hence stopping by one of these amazing dessert places is a must after your main meal!
