Tips To Achieve Your New Year's Resolutions

Tips To Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions

This is the year for eating healthy, working out, landing that dream job, or writing that book. At least until the end of the month rolls around and all motivation is lost. We’ve all been there, but no worries. You’re amazing and can achieve anything you set your mind to. These ten tips will help you rock your New Year’s resolutions:

Find Your Tribe

Whether your resolution is to eat healthy, wake up earlier, or join a SoulCycle class, it’ll help if you have other people who are on the same journey. Join a Meetup group, take a class, or find even one person to be your partner in crime while you work toward your goals.

Get Inspired Often

You know how you feel motivated on New Year’s Day? Then a few days later the excitement fades? That’s totally normal. We’re emotional creatures, and our feelings change like the phases of the moon. Think of motivation as something that needs to be recharged, like your iPhone.

Think In Terms Of Three To Six Months

A year is a long time, and that makes us feel like we can accomplish everything under the sun. But thinking too far ahead can make you feel overwhelmed. Instead, pick one or two goals you want to focus on for the next three to six months. This makes it easier to make progress.

Use Technology To Your Advantage

Don’t have time to join a gym or take a class? Look up fitness videos on YouTube. Want to drink more water? There’s an app for that. Want to read more? Follow book bloggers for awesome recommendations. There are so many inspiring resources at your fingertips.

Every Day Is A Fresh Start

It doesn’t have to be New Year’s Day for you to make a change in your life. Every day offers new opportunities for you to do small things that make a difference. Eat a healthy lunch, go for a walk, meditate, or call a friend. One small step can lead to more small steps.

Celebrate Small Wins

If you look back on this year, I’m sure you’ve achieved a lot and come a long way. Congrats! You’re amazing! Every day you achieve little things and have reasons to feel proud of yourself. Write those things down and read them when you need a motivational boost.

Create a Rewards Jar

Write down little rewards you can give yourself and put them into a jar. It could be a pedicure, a new tube of mascara, a home spa day, a movie night, or anything you want. When you achieve a goal or make progress on a resolution, choose a reward from the jar and treat yourself.

Keep A Journal

Keeping a journal for your goals can be a great way to see your progress. It doesn’t have to be a journal though. It can be a blog, a calendar, or you can write down your small wins and put them into a jar. You can also create a scrapbook. Personal growth should be fun!

Subscribe To A Magazine

Or a magazine’s newsletter [wink wink]. If you want to express yourself more with makeup, step up your fashion game, try new foods, or travel more, Global Glam can keep you inspired. But for any resolution you have, a magazine is probably covering it. Subscribe for your dose of motivation.

Give Yourself A Break

There will be days where things don’t go as planned. That’s normal and okay. Watch a funny movie, read a good book, drink the whole bottle of your favorite wine (I’m kidding, share it with friends instead!). Your goals will still be there for you to start fresh tomorrow.

You always have the ability to have a fresh start and be the person you want to be. Find like-minded people, stay inspired, reward yourself, and focus on one or two goals for a few months’ time. You’re going to do great this year. I believe in you.

Awesome ideas! Especially the rewards jar. I believe in rewarding myself. Seriously, it took me until March to get in gear with the diet and fitness goals. These excellent suggestions should certainly help to stay focused. Thank you!
