Why You Should Be Drinking Turmeric, Green, & Red Lattes in 2017

Why You Should Be Drinking Turmeric, Green, & Red Lattes in 2017

written by Global Glam December 20, 2016

It can be hard adapting a healthier lifestyle. Didn’t Mark Twain say,

“The Only Way To Keep Your Health Is To Eat What You Don’t Want, Drink What You Don’t Like, And Do What You’d Rather Not” – Mark Twain

Well isn’t that the truth. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way.  While we can’t cut out everything from our diet, doesn’t mean we still can’t cut out some ingredients and replace them with others. We have two words for you: healthy lattes. You no longer have to cut out the best part of your day because dietitians say you shouldn’t have any dairy. What we are about to show you today are the healthy lattes with a twist we are sure you never thought of. Drinking these lattes will not only make your body happy but will also make you happy. But without further ado, let’s get healthy, shall we?

How to:

  1. Add the almond milk to a small pot and heat on low temperature.
  2. Add the turmeric, cinnamon stick, cardamon pods, raw honey or coconut syrup, and pepper and stir frequently for about 3 minutes until the milk is warm (not boiling).
  3. Remove from heat and take out the cinnamon stick. You can reuse it a couple of time.

Long-standing tradition of Japanese culture, Matcha Green Tea is the highest quality powdered green tea available. Made from the nutrient-rich young leaves picked from the tips of shade-grown Camellia sinensis plants, Matcha Green Tea is steamed, stemmed, and de-vined before being stone-ground into very fine powder.

What you’ll need:

1 cup non-dairy milk, warmed
1/2 cup water, warmed
1 tsp matcha green tea powder (I use ENCHA)
sweeten to taste
Optional: Peppermint extract and/or Vanilla bean

How to:

  1. All you’ll need to do is warm the non-dairy milk and water to a ‘just under boiling’ temperature.
  2. Pour both into a blender along with the matcha and any other additional ingredients you choose.
  3. Blend until you see it’s frothy and enjoy.

What you’ll need:

1 shot of espresso or 4 oz. of very strong coffee
3/4 cup of milk of choice (taste best with raw cow or coconut)
3 TB organic pumpkin puree
1 TB of real maple syrup
5 drops of stevia or you can add another 1/2 TB of maple syrup
1/8 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice
1/8 tsp. of vanilla extract
Pinch of coconut sugar for topping (optional)

How to:

If you have an espresso maker, we suggest using that before you use our other method. With the espresso machine, it is quick and will make your life a whole lot easier, if not we suggest :

  1. Once you have your coffee ready, put your pumpkin, spices, vanilla extract, and maple syrup into a mixing glass. Use a blender to whip up the ingredients together.
  2. Place your milk in a saucepan over a medium flame (Or stir on high to create a nice foamy milk). Once the milk is simmering, remove and put in the blender with the other ingredients.
  3. Pour your mixture into a bowl or cask and gently pound on the counter a few times (This will help you achieve the nice frothy top of a latte beverage). Let it sit for a minute and then use a spoon to separate the liquid from the foam of your milk to get the full effect of a pumpkin spice latte.
  4. After your all done, place your beverage into your mug of choice and sprinkle a pinch of coconut sugar (optional). Enjoy!

A little extra treat

On behalf of Global Glam, one thing we can all agree on is that we love chocolate and a little treat every now and then. While we are now going the healthy route when it comes to our favorite lattes, it doesn’t mean we also have to say goodbye to hot chocolate. That’s right! We have two recipes healthy but delicious hot chocolates to enjoy all season long.
