While we are all hunkered down, learning to appreciate the great indoors, we are learning inventive ideas to make life a little more pleasurable with the little touches inside our home. While most of us do not fine-dine everyday, we should also adhere to making this a special experience and the perfect treat for a relaxed weekend indoors. Here is how to incorporate fine dining at home:
1. Plan to have a 3-5 Course Meal
(Plan at least a few days prior)
Set the cuisine and menu for the evening, and plan for an appetizer, a main, and a dessert to incorporate fine dining at home. You may even print the menu if you really want to be fancy. You get extra credit if you include an amuse-bouche, and a palette cleanser. Make a list for items you need to purchase and scroll below to double check any other items you may need.
2. Bring out interesting Serving Ware
Set out plates and serving platters you would normally entertain with. It doesn’t have to be fine china or crystal (but by all means, go ahead), you can be adventurous with colored plates and glasses that you already may have.
3. Set the Table
Whether you have cooked or ordered take-out, present a nice dinner table. Roll out the mats, silverware, and cloth napkins. Have a theme if you’d like. If you have a balcony or outdoor space, use it.
4. Bring out a nice wine to accompany your menu.
Château Margaux?
You get props if you also make a cocktail and after-dinner drink with a cheese plate.
5. Add Music, Candles, Flowers
Add candles and have your favorite tunes play in the background. Fresh flowers in a colored glass will do wonders. Table for 2? Add some of these foods to spice up the mood.
