The Most Expensive ZIP Codes in the USA

The Most Expensive ZIP Codes in the USA

written by Global Glam April 17, 2022

Billionaire’s Row in Manhattan? Beverly Hills in Los Angeles? Which ZIP code is the most expensive in the USA right now? Property Shark has published their 2021 report, ranking ZIP codes by median sale price and surprisingly the aforementioned locations are not among the Top 5. Below is a look at who made the cut instead.

5) 33109 (Miami Beach, FL)

$4.475 million. That’s how much the median house in this ZIP code went for in 2021. You may be surprised to see Miami Beach on the list. However, 33109 is no ordinary part of Miami – it is the ZIP code for the famous Fisher Island, an ultra-luxurious private island that can only be reached by boat or helicopter.

4) 94957 (Ross, CA)

You may not have heard of Ross, CA before. It is a small town in Marin County in the San Francisco Bay area so it’s easy to see why prices are sky-high. The median home sale in 2021 was ~$4.6 million. Sean Penn has lived there.

3) 11962 (Sagaponack, NY)

A list of the most expensive ZIP codes wouldn’t be complete without the Hamptons. Sagaponack is a village in the town of Southampton and had a median sale value of $5 million. If you buy there, you may be able to call Jimmy Fallon, Lloyd Blankfein or Drew Barrymore your neighbor.

2) 02199 (Boston, MA)

This is admittedly a bit of a shocker to us. The ZIP code 02199 is in downtown Boston and encompasses the area around the Prudential Center shopping mall. With a median sales price of $5.5 million it made second place this year.

1) 94027 (Atherton, CA)

The title for the most expensive ZIP code goes once again to Atherton, CA with a median sales price of almost $7.5 million. That’s no surprise. Located halfway between San Francisco and San Jose, Atherton is home to a whole list of wealthy celebrities and businessmen. Paul Allen (Microsoft Co-Founder), Eric Schmidt (Google), Stephen Curry, Chamath Palihapitiya, Charles Schwab are just a few notable residents in this town.
