Living Inside a World Wonder
There are few places left in the world where true exclusivity is defined not by opulence, but by access. At Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, luxury begins with silence — the rare stillness that exists before the world arrives.
As the only hotel located within Brazil’s Iguassu National Park, Hotel das Cataratas offers its guests something unattainable elsewhere: private access to the Iguassu Falls before and after the park opens to the public. In these sacred hours, the walkways belong only to you. The roar of the water feels closer, more intimate. Time slows. Nature takes the lead. There are luxury hotels, and then there are places that exist in a category entirely their own.

A World Wonder’s Most Elegant Neighbor
Framed by lush rainforest and the thunderous beauty of one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, the hotel’s elegant Portuguese-style façade stands as a vision of timeless grace. Its soft pink exterior, arched windows, and colonial details feel perfectly at home amid the surrounding jungle, as though it has always belonged there.
Over the years, this legendary retreat has welcomed royalty, heads of state, Hollywood icons, and cultural luminaries — drawn not by excess, but by discretion, heritage, and unrivaled location. Here, luxury whispers rather than shouts.
Curated Experiences, Timed to Nature’s Rhythm
Experiences at Hotel das Cataratas unfold in harmony with the natural world. Guests are invited to explore the park at sunrise, sunset, and even during full-moon nights — times when Iguassu reveals its most magical side.
One of the most enchanting offerings I had the privilage to see, is the Full Moon Moon-Bow Walk. On select full-moon evenings, guests wander the walkways above the falls as moonlight reflects off the mist, creating a rare lunar rainbow. It is an ethereal, almost otherworldly sight — and an experience exclusive to hotel guests! This itself is worth the stay.
The Pool Suites: A Private Sanctuary
Among the hotel’s most exclusive accommodations are just two Pool Suites, each offering a secluded world of comfort and refinement, and one in which I had the privilege to stay in (Room 1028) ! One of these extraordinary suites was my home during the stay — and it redefined the meaning of privacy.
Designed in refined Portuguese colonial style, the suite features a private garden and pool, a spacious living area, a walk-in closet, and thoughtful modern touches such as a 42-inch LED HD Smart TV. Mornings began with birdsong and rainforest light filtering through the garden, while afternoons unfolded poolside, cocooned from the world yet steps away from one of nature’s greatest spectacles.

Additional premium accommodations include the Terrace Suite and Tower Suite, completing a thoughtfully curated offering that balances heritage with contemporary luxury. he hotel offers a full suite of refined conveniences, including on-site national and international ATM, two boutiques, kids’ club, and versatile event spaces. Signature accommodations such as the Cataratas Suite, located on the second floor of the main building, deliver sweeping views of Iguassu Falls from a generous 64 m² layout featuring separate living and dining areas, a soaking tub, and walk-in shower.
Interiors are elevated by original artworks, antiques, hand-embroidered wool rugs, and custom fabrics, while comfort is assured through goose-down duvets, plush mattresses, and a curated pillow menu. Modern technology includes 50-inch LED HD Smart TVs, international channels, and Bluetooth sound systems. All rooms are equipped with climate control, digital safes with internal outlets, minibar, coffee maker, hairdryer, magnifying mirror, and clock radio.
A Gastronomic Journey in the Heart of the Jungle
Dining at Hotel das Cataratas is as imaginative as it is indulgent. The hotel’s restaurants celebrate Brazilian flavors with international finesse, offering refined menus inspired by regional ingredients and global techniques.
Gastronomy at Hotel das Cataratas is shaped by Chef Luiz Filipe, one of Brazil’s most respected culinary voices. A visionary of modern Brazilian cuisine, Chef Filipe is known for blending national ingredients with refined Italian techniques, creating dishes that are both rooted and contemporary.
His accolades are substantial: two Michelin stars for Evvai in São Paulo, representing Brazil at Bocuse d’Or 2019, and critical recognition from Veja São Paulo and Folha de S.Paulo. At Hotel das Cataratas, his influence brings precision and depth to the dining experience, ensuring that the culinary offering stands on equal footing with the destination itself.
Beyond the dining rooms, the hotel curates exclusive culinary experiences designed to turn meals into memories. Guests can enjoy private garden picnics by the falls, cachaça and Paraná wine tastings, or sunset cocktails served on the lawn or in the historic tower — each moment framed by the sounds of nature and the glow of golden light over the falls.

Picnic Perfection by the Falls
Another unforgettable highlight is the hotel’s curated picnic experience, set either on the lawn facing the waterfalls or within gardens blooming with orchids. Guests can choose between two beautifully crafted menus Enjoyed in complete serenity — often before or after the park opens — it feels less like a picnic and more like a private celebration of place.

Where Nature and Luxury Move as One
What makes Hotel das Cataratas truly unforgettable is not just its beauty, service, or history — but its proximity to raw, untamed nature. The falls are not a backdrop here; they are a constant presence. From the sound of rushing water drifting into the gardens to the mist catching the morning light, nature reveals itself at every turn.
To stay at Hotel das Cataratas is to experience Iguassu Falls as few ever will — quietly, intimately, and exquisitely. It is not simply a destination, but a privilege.
