Ah, Christmas in Capri- While the weather in the winter is not conducive to the beach or swimming, Capri island is beautiful and the food is OH SO divine! You can still eat delicious Capri chocolate cake and drink all the limoncello your heart desires.

Capri island leading up to Christmas and New Years is a very special time to visit, thanks to frothy cappuccinos, nirvana inducing homemade pasta, lemony decor, Christmas music around the island, and locals wrapped up in cashmere. The island is quiet and there are hardly any tourists. The usual tourist traps are closed, and you can live the island like a local. Enough said.

SEE:
Grotta Azzurra or Blue Grotto: I like to call this a wonder of the world, it is a MUST SEE. Roman Emperor Tiberius made this his own personal swimming pool, and you can see why. You enter through a small fishing boat through a small cave like opening, and you enter into a dream like realm. It is illegal to swim inside the blue grotto, but if you have a good guide, you can take a sneak dip. The Blue Grotto is closed on 25 December and 1 January, but open all other days, weather permitting and when sea conditions are favorable.

The Faraglioni: two spectacular rocks emerging from the sea and reaching up towards the sky. Your boat can take you through here- make a wish as you go underneath.
