Guide Michelin Rankings For New York City Have Been Updated

written by Global Glam October 9, 2022

Guide Michelin has announced its 2022-star rankings. The ceremony took place at Peak – the new iconic Hudson Yards restaurant and Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were serving as hosts for the evening. There is a total of 19 new Michelin-star restaurants in the city – and as always, the evening had both winners and losers.

The Winners

Eleven Madison Park – the restaurant has been subject to much controversy since adopting an all-vegan menu. Especially those who have dined at the restaurant when it was serving meat and fish products seem discontent by the change. However, Guide Michelin disagreed and Eleven Madison Park gets to keep its three-star status.

Al Coro and Saga – those two restaurants made it straight to the two-star category. Al Coro offers regional Italian cuisine with a menu that changes completely every six weeks. Saga features dishes rooted in European techniques with added influence from the chef’s travels and the diverse cuisine that makes up the landscape of dining in NYC

The Losers

Marea – in 2012, the restaurant was awarded two Michelin starts. It kept that status until 2020 when it was downgraded to a one-star restaurant. Now, Marea has been stripped of that one remaining star. The decision was probably the most surprising of the evening.

Peter Luger – undoubtedly New York City’s most famous and iconic steakhouse is now without a Michelin star. The Brooklyn-based restaurant received a scathing zero-star review by the New York Times three years ago and now, Guide Michelin seems to be in agreement.

Peak – the restaurant sits 1,150 ft above ground and probably offers NYC’s most spectacular dining views: a full 360-degree view of the city. Ever since the venue opened in 2020, there have been rumors that Peak may be added to the list of Michelin-star restaurants. Hosting the ceremony this year would have been the perfect opportunity to celebrate its inclusion but no star has been awarded again this year.
