Bugatti has brought its latest expression of automotive exclusivity to Monterey Car Week, where the new Destrier made its public debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. The one-of-one hypercar is the third creation from Bugatti’s ultra-exclusive Programme Solitaire, a bespoke initiative focused on creating singular automobiles for individual collectors.
The Destrier takes inspiration from the extreme Bugatti Bolide but transforms its track-focused foundation into something more sculptural and road-oriented. Beneath its distinctive bodywork sits the Bolide’s carbon-fiber monocoque and 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, producing approximately 1,578 horsepower. The result combines extraordinary performance with the kind of personalization normally associated with fine art and haute craftsmanship.
Visually, the Destrier is defined by its Sapphire Celeste paintwork and polished aluminum details. Its proportions, aerodynamic surfaces, and intricate exterior elements demonstrate Bugatti’s approach to creating a vehicle that is as much a design object as it is a high-performance machine. The attention to material and finish reflects the philosophy behind Programme Solitaire, where individuality is placed at the center of the creative process.
Monterey Car Week provided an especially fitting setting for the reveal. The annual gathering brings together some of the world’s most significant collector cars, luxury brands, designers, and enthusiasts, making it an important stage for manufacturers unveiling highly exclusive automobiles. The Destrier was first privately presented to its owner in Pebble Beach before joining a Bugatti tour of the Monterey Peninsula and California coastline ahead of its public appearance.
The Destrier follows the Programme Solitaire’s previous one-off creations, Brouillard and F.K.P. Hommage. Each demonstrates Bugatti’s increasingly personalized approach to luxury, where exclusivity is measured not simply by production numbers but by the ability to create something that exists nowhere else.
With the Destrier, Bugatti continues to blur the boundary between automotive engineering and collectible design. Its Monterey debut offered more than the unveiling of another hypercar—it presented a singular expression of craftsmanship, performance, and personal vision.
