Mykonos is a chic island rightfully dubbed as a ‘party city’. However, it is not just for bachelor stags, hens, and plate-breaking beach parties; it is also an oasis where you can relax, sunbathe, wine and dine, and do absolutely nothing while you stare into the sapphire Mediterranean sea.

Mykonos is a Greek “St Tropez”, as it becomes lit at night with its lavish bars and clubs, cafes, and seaside restaurants. Let’s not forget the main charm of this beautiful place, which consists of signature white washed stone buildings, blue waters, tan golden sand, charming churches with red domes, blue terraces, boutiques, and quaint fishing villages.

Another part of the charm of Mykonos? Everyone has a “no one cares – laissez faire” attitude.

Mykonos is the land of shipping tycoons such as Aristotle Onassis since the 50’s. Jacqueline Kennedy loved Mykonos so much, she vowed to have a house here. Grace Kelly, Mick Jagger, Valentino, Richard Burton and Liz Taylor (which chic city haven’t they stayed?), have frequented this island. DJs David Guetta, David Morales, Moby, Armin Van Buuren, and Satoshi Tomiie have all played here.

Upon landing, prepare to be mesmerized with a desert like mountainous landscape sprinkled with all-white buildings and villas from the air. Once you get into town, you will notice the traditional Cycladic architectural style (white cubed houses, minimalistic style, cobblestone, iconic windmills) where the character and style has remained intact. Google maps might help you, but not that much. The streets were purposely built like a maze to weed off the pirates that frequently invaded Mykonos. Part of the fun though, is getting lost meandering the cobbled stone streets. Sorry, no cars allowed.
