As the world is moving more and more digital, watches retain their value – they are more than pieces telling us what time it is. Watches are serving as a status symbol and indicate a person’s taste and wealth. In addition to being manufactured with the world’s most expensive raw materials such as gold, platinum and diamonds, the value of a watch also depends on its manufacturer, history and technology. Here are the world’s most expensive watches:

  1. Graff Diamonds “Hallucination” ($55 million)

The world’s most expensive watch is the “Hallucination” by Graff Diamonds. The value of the watch mainly results from the diamonds that make up the bracelet. It features 110 karats of very rare and colored diamonds in a platinum bracelet.

This Patek Philippe is a true wristwatch and doesn’t derive its value from diamonds. It was created to celebrate Patek Philippe’s 175th birthday and is branded as their most complicated wristwatch ever built. It has more than 20 complications on two dials.

  1. Breguet „Marie-Antoinette Grande Complication” ($30 million)

According to Breguet, the order for this watch came from an admirer of Marie-Antoinette herself. It took Breguet 44 years to finish this piece – by that time Marie Antoinette had been dead for 34 years. It incorporates the fullest range of horological expertise known at the time and was recently valued to be worth $30 million.

  1. Jaeger-LeCoultre „Joaillerie 101 Manchette” ($26 million)

This watch became famous as it was gifted to the Queen of England, Elizabeth II in order to celebrate her 60th year on the throne. It features 576 diamonds and a sapphire dial.
